Listen up!
How many times have you had to repeat yourself when asking a little person to do something, at least a few repeats every time huh! Sometimes this is due to inattention, sometimes they don’t want to ‘hear’ it’s time to leave a toy or game, and sometimes there may be an issue with concentration or perhaps deeper understanding difficulties. Working out what is the cause of the listening and following instructions difficulties is where your Speech Pathologist can help. Trained in identifying both expressive ( speaking )and receptive ( listening /understanding) difficulties , you can trust your speech pathologist to find out why your little one isn’t always on cue with following an instruction.
A hearing test is a good start, checking that all the mechanics are working AOK.
